Law Society congratulates second woman solicitor appointed to High Court
The Law Society of Ireland congratulates Eileen Roberts, the second woman solicitor to be nominated to the High Court.
This follows the nomination by Government to appoint Ms Roberts as an ordinary judge of the High Court on 21 June 2022.

Well-known in the legal profession, Eileen is the former Chair of A&L Goodbody and a highly regarded partner at the firm鈥檚 disputes and investigations practice.鈥
鈥淭his nomination demonstrates what the Law Society has long known, that solicitors have the skills and expertise necessary for the highest judicial appointments in the State. We would like Eileen鈥檚 appointment to be a catalyst for progress towards a more diverse judiciary that reflects Irish society.

Increased solicitor representation among future judicial appointments would contribute to an acute understanding of the needs of court users in the pursuit of access to justice.

Women are currently in the majority of practising and trainee solicitors in Ireland, an encouraging juncture in our history.
