This annual conference, presented by the In-house and Public Sector Committee in collaboration with Law Society Finuas Skillnet is aimed at solicitors employed in-house in the private and public sectors. Presentations will explore working from home and hybrid working, including wellbeing, followed by an interactive panel discussion. Panel members, from both the private and public sectors, will share their personal observations and insights based on their career experiences, and provide guidance and practical tips. - Effective Business Writing and Proofreading – 20 October 2021
This practical, interactive workshop is for anyone who wants to feel confident in their use of English. It focuses on all aspects of writing for business: texts, documents, reports, proposals, emails, and letters etc. that are used regularly in the legal and other professions. It covers the full process of writing, starting by understanding your audience, planning the structure, writing clearly and concisely, and the general strategy required to ensure your text is focused and conclusive.
Research shows that the best way to learn is by doing. This workshop will use specific examples to bring to life how recommended guidelines can be implemented. - Recent Developments in Freedom of Information – 14 October 2021
Mason Hayes & Curran will host a webinar on Thursday 14 October at 11am, looking at the latest developments in Freedom of Information. At this webinar, MHC speakers will discuss recent decisions of note by the Information Commissioner as well as giving an update on matters of interest arising from the Commissioner’s Annual Report. They will also look at recent court decisions, including the Supreme Court’s landmark judgments in the ENET and UCC cases. .
- The Principles and Purposes of Sentencing – 21 October 2021
The Irish Penal Reform Trust and the Irish Criminal Bar Association are delighted to announce a seminar on Developing Sentencing Guidelines for Ireland: The Principles and Purposes of Sentencing. The seminar will take place online on Thursday 21 October 2021 at 4.30pm, via Zoom. The event is the second in IPRT’s 2021 Prison Law Seminar Series and will look at the work of the recently established Sentencing Guidelines and Information Committee in developing sentencing guidelines for Ireland, as well as the principles and purposes that should underpin any reform of Ireland’s sentencing laws.
