The Career Support Service provides confidential support for solicitors facing all types of career challenges. The service is free of charge to solicitors who are Law Society members. A wide range of supports are provided, with some supports delivered on a one-to-one basis and others as group programmes.
Solicitors can contact Career Support any time, by telephone or email, and can discuss any matter with a career adviser in total confidence. Career consultations can be organised on Zoom to discuss matters in detail and one-to-one career coaching is also available.
A wide range of job-seeking supports is provided to solicitors including a CV review and feedback service and assistance with prospecting and preparing for interviews. Interview preparation support is provided primarily to groups and through webinars.
Returners is a group programme that provides dedicated support for solicitors who have been away from legal work for a period of time and who now want to return to legal work. The Returners Programme is particularly useful for people who have had family care responsibilities.
Options 55+ is an initiative that supports older solicitors who want to plan for retirement or, possibly, move into a different way of working. Both self-employed and employed solicitors are catered for.
Enterprise Support provides information on self-employment, setting up in practice and on buying a practice or buying into a partnership. Access is also made available through this initiative to useful facilities, such as Buy Sell Merge.
