Philip Lee appoints new head of tax

Philip Lee LLP has appointed Michael McGivern to lead its tax-advisory service as head of tax.

The firm says that the appointment reflects its commitment to delivering high-quality, commercially focused tax advice to clients across Ireland and internationally.

McGivern brings over 25 years of experience in tax-advisory services to the role.

Before joining Philip Lee, he held senior positions at S&W (formerly Smith & Williamson) and Grant Thornton, where he advised large Irish and international corporate clients across several sectors.

Track record

His specialist areas include domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, and reconstructions, as well as domestic and international tax planning.

He also has extensive tax experience in succession planning and passing on family businesses.

Philip Lee managing partner Jonathan Kelly said that the new head of tax’s “distinguished track record” would “significantly enhance” its ability to deliver commercial and effective solutions to its clients.

The firm says that the appointment comes at a time of “rapid growth” – it recently launched Philip Lee (US) LLP, and has been focusing its growth in areas such as climate projects, investment funds, and cross-border transactions.
