McCann FitzGerald creates new technology role

McCann FitzGerald LLP has appointed Mairéad Cullen to a newly created position as chief technology officer (CTO).

The firm says that the new role reflects the firm’s “strategic focus on innovation and digital transformation”.

Cullen has more than 30 years of experience in technology leadership – including her most recent role as chief information officer (CIO) and executive team member at Vodafone Ireland.

Technology strategy

She has led major transformation programmes across network, IT, and digital domains, and currently serves as a non-executive director of .ie (weare.ie) and Kinia.

McCann FitzGerald says that Cullen will be responsible for shaping and executing the firm’s technology strategy, ensuring that its digital capabilities continue to enhance client service, operational excellence, and long-term growth.

Managing partner Stephen Holst said that Cullen’s appointment marked “a pivotal moment” in the firm’s “digital journey”.

AI ‘reshaping’ legal services

“As a member of the executive team, she will play a key role in shaping the firm’s future, from harnessing AI and emerging technologies to strengthening cyber-security and enabling smarter ways of working,” he stated.

Cullen said that emerging technologies like AI were reshaping how legal services were delivered, creating new opportunities to enhance value for clients and transforming how firms operated.

Her appointment follows that of as partner and head of knowledge last month.
