Former William Fry LLP managing partner Owen O’Sullivan has been appointed as a commissioner of the Law Reform Commission (LRC), which carries out reviews of legislation and makes recommendations for reform.
O'Sullivan, currently a consultant in William Fry’s litigation-and-investigations department, takes up the post for a five-year term from 1 November.
He had headed the litigation-and-investigations department for 15 years before becoming managing partner from 2020 to 2024.
O’Sullivan also served as a member of the Law Society’s Litigation Committee and has been a member of the International Bar Association for many years.
He specialises in large-scale commercial disputes, particularly shareholder and investment disputes, as well as disputes and advisory work in the financial sector.
O’Sullivan has considerable experience in regulatory proceedings across many industry sectors, as well as in tribunals, inquiries, and investigations.
William Fry says that his current role as a consultant in the firm will not be affected by the LRC appointment.
William Fry managing partner Stephen Keogh described the appointment as “a testament to Owen's exceptional legal acumen, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of justice”.
