Homes completed up by 4% in third quarter
Official figures show that the number of new homes completed in the third quarter of this year rose by 4% compared with the same period last year.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) said that 9,235 homes were built in July, August, and September, compared with 8,883 a year earlier.
bring the total for the first nine months of the year to 24,325 – an increase of 13% compared with the same period last year.
Having fallen by almost 25% in 2024, apartment completions in the first nine months of this year are 30% ahead of the same period last year.
Single homes up 15%
During the third quarter, there was an annual 3.3% increase in the number of apartments completed to 3,160, while houses as part of schemes were up 1.2% to 4,551.
The number of single homes jumped by 15% to 1,524.
Almost half of completions (49%) were part of schemes, while 34% were apartments.
Five of the eight regions of Ireland saw a rise in completions over the past 12 months, with the biggest increase of 35% coming in the mid-east (Louth, Meath, Kildare, and Wicklow).
