Building resilience for in-house counsel

Law Society Skillnet is hosting a webinar next month aimed at helping in-house counsel to deal with the unique challenges thrown up by their roles.

Former law-firm director turned performance expert Ronan Harrington will speak about the secrets to achieving sustainable excellence, grounded in the science of resilience.

The live Zoom event takes place on Wednesday 12 November (12.30pm to 1.30pm) and provides one CPD hour for professional development and solicitor wellbeing.

The webinar is designed to help in-house counsel to deal with demanding work cultures, in which many are operating in an unsustainable state of burnout.

Excessive workload

Harrington, who works with the biggest professional and legal-service firms in the world, will explain his ‘sustainable high-performance’ model, designed to improve productivity and wellbeing.

It is designed for the unique challenges that in-house counsel face – including excessive workload, crisis environments, demanding stakeholders, ‘always-on’ culture, and a perfectionist mindset.

The webinar will provide:

  • Protocols to tackle excessive workload and stay focused amid noise and distraction,
  • Rituals to build resilience and maintain peak performance, and
  • Practices to deepen trust and collaboration within teams.
