Annual update for north-east solicitors

The annual update for solicitors based in the north-east region will take place later this week at the Four Seasons Hotel and Leisure Club, Coolshannagh, Monaghan.

North East CPD Day 2025 is organised by Law Society Professional Training and takes place on Friday 17 October (9am to 5.30pm).

Seven CPD hours are available for participants – 3.5 general, one for professional development and solicitor wellbeing, and 2.5 for client care and professional standards (accounting and anti-money-laundering compliance).

The event’s aim is to provide an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

Networking opportunity

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and an evening drinks reception.

Topics include:

  • Legal costs – what you can charge for and what to expect,
  • Mediation – compliance and solicitors’ obligations under section 14,
  • Court forms – demystifying the portal,
  • Conveyancing updates,
  • Taking on new clients – the basics, including terms of engagement and AML (anti-money-laundering),
  • AI in legal practice,
  • Leadership – a collaborative approach, and
  • Services for solicitors – practice support, career support, and information services.
