Annual update for Cork solicitors next month

Law Society Professional Training will host an annual update for Cork solicitors on Thursday 6 November (10am to 5.30pm).

The event will take place at the Kingsley Hotel, Cork, and is aimed at providing practitioners with an opportunity to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

Attendees can earn a total of six CPD hours – four general, one for client care and professional standards (AML compliance), and one for professional development and solicitor wellbeing.

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and an evening drinks reception.

Conveyancing updates

Topics include:

  • Company law: an update on meetings, alternatives to meetings, and the role of a chair,
  • Services for solicitors: practice support, career support, and information services,
  • Law Society and the profession,
  • Recent developments in conveyancing,
  • Mitigating risk in probate files,
  • Practising under pressure: anti-money-laundering insights, and
  • Key principles and practical strategies for successful change leadership.

The speakers include:

  • Paul Egan SC (Mason Hayes & Curran LLP, member of Law Society Council, former chair of Business Committee, and chair of Company Law Review Group),
  • Michelle Nolan (head of solicitor services, Law Society),
  • Debbie Leonard (solicitor and secretary to the Law Society Conveyancing Committee),
  • Maeve Mullin (director, Finders International Ireland),
  • Sorcha Hayes (head of practice regulation, Law Society),
  • Juli Rea (solicitor, JRAP O'Meara LLP), and
  • Caroline Randle MSc (executive leadership coach and trainer).
