ALG logs over 41,000 pro bono hours

A&L Goodbody (ALG) has published its inaugural responsible business report Our Future with Purpose, highlighting achievements in environmental sustainability, pro bono legal work, community engagement, and internal diversity and inclusion.

Volunteering

Key highlights include:

  • 80% of ALG lawyers participated in pro bono work,
  • 50% of partners promoted over the last five years were women,
  • €540,000 donated to community partners and €158,000 raised through staff fundraising and volunteering,
  • ALG’s new Dublin headquarters is powered by 100% renewable energy, aligning with its target to cut carbon emissions by 50% by 2030,
  • Over 41,100 pro bono hours delivered since 2022, with 14,000 hours contributed in 2024 alone across 325 legal matters.

Managing partner David Widger said, “We’ve been at the forefront of being a responsible business for well over a decade. We can look back with immense pride on everything we’ve done so far.”

Meanwhile, the firm has also appointed Trevor Glavey as a partner in its tax practice. Trevor joins the tax team led by Paul Fahy, alongside partners Amelia O’Beirne, James Somerville, and ‘of counsel’, Philip McQueston.
