Applications are still open for a Law Society Diploma Centre course aimed at equipping legal staff with the skills needed to support solicitors in their work.
The Diploma in Legal Skills for Legal Executives, which starts on 4 November, will equip legal executives, paralegals, secretaries, and other legal staff with the practical legal skills, foundational knowledge, and competencies essential to support solicitors in their work.
The centre describes the diploma as “a highly practical course” that will provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to approach their day-to-day work efficiently and with confidence.
Lecturers will emphasise the practical aspects of working in a legal office and set out the steps involved in various common types of legal transactions.
The course will also look at some of the main issues that legal staff encounter while working in a legal office, such as data-protection issues, cyber risks, and anti-money-laundering.

The course is open to those who have two years’ experience working as a legal executive or in a similar role, or, those who have completed the Law Society’s Certificate in Legal Skills for Legal Secretaries or Certificate in Conveyancing and Property Law for Legal Executives.
