New case-management system in Supreme Court

The Courts Service has recently introduced a new internal case-management system to the Supreme Court.

The courts body says that the Unified Case Management System (UCMS) began operating in the Supreme Court on 28 October.

The organisation describes the development as  “an important milestone” in its three-year digital strategy and a significant step forward in its modernisation programme.

The new system replaces outdated legacy platforms.

The Courts Service says that it offers faster, more seamless case-processing, along with enhanced data quality and strengthened security.

The organisation adds that it also lays the foundation for future developments – including an online portal to support the electronic filing of documents.

The courts portal for external users is being rolled out across different areas of law.

Last week, the Courts Service expanded the portal to receive its first online probate applications on a pilot basis.
