McCann FitzGerald names new corporate chief

McCann FitzGerald LLP has named long-standing partner Brendan Murphy as the new leader of its corporate group.

A senior corporate partner, Murphy joined the firm nearly two decades ago as a trainee.

He has advised on mergers and acquisitions, private-equity investments and disposals, alternative capital-investment transactions, joint ventures. and re-organisations.

McCann FitzGerald says that Murphy has played a central role in many of its most significant corporate deals, describing him as “a trusted adviser” to boards and executive teams across a range of sectors.

His main areas of practice are infrastructure, property, construction, engineering, financial services, and healthcare.

‘Continued growth’

The firm says that his appointment comes at a time of continued growth and opportunity for its corporate division.

Murphy succeeds Stephen FitzSimons, who has led the corporate group since 2020 and will continue as a partner at the firm.

Stephen Holst (managing partner) said that the new corporate head had developed “a deep understanding” of the firm’s clients, and combined this with “strong transactional experience, great energy and a clear strategic vision”.

The latest appointment follows a series of senior leadership developments at McCann FitzGerald LLP – including the recent appointments of Liam Heylin and Peter McLay as partners, as partner and head of knowledge, and Mairéad Cullen as chief technology officer.
