Public-sector legal-internship scheme opens
A legal-access internship scheme in the public sector for final-year law undergraduates is now open for applications.
The scheme is open to students from socio-economic backgrounds that are under-represented in the legal profession.
It provides internship opportunities in the Chief State Solicitor's Office (CSSO),, the Law Reform Commission (LRC), the Office of the Attorney General, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The internship is for a period of two months, starting on 3 June. It will provide successful applicants with paid work experience in a public-sector legal environment.
Eligibility
To be eligible for , students must, on or before Tuesday 25 February, be in their final year of study towards an honours undergraduate degree in law, or an equivalent qualification in which law is taken as a major subject.
They must also have accessed a higher education institution in Ireland through an access programme or access route, or availed of one of the following SUSI financial supports:
- Band one full maintenance grant,
- Special rate maintenance grant, or
- Be registered with, and receiving supports from, a disability-support service in a higher education institution in Ireland.
The closing date for applications is 3pm on Tuesday 25 February.
