Commercial-law firm Philip Lee has appointed Anna Hickey to lead the M&A (merger-and-acquisition) activities of its climate-finance team.
The firm says that Hickey has an extensive background in both carbon markets and corporate law, adding that there is an increasing amount of M&A work in the climate-finance sector.
Hickey said that what she described as “the intersection of climate and M&A” presented “extraordinary opportunities”.
She added that she expected investors to start “coming back to the table” through a combination of debt and equity investments.
Philip Lee says that its climate-finance team has tripled in size over the past year.
The firm adds that, despite challenges in the carbon markets over the past two years, the team has seen a rise in project-investment and deal activity in the VCM (voluntary carbon market) in 2024, as companies seek to consolidate their positions in a market characterised by fluctuating demand, regulatory changes, and increasing climate-related pressures.
