Courts Service issues update on security cards

The Courts Service is currently updating the application process for security cards, which provide access to the Four Courts in Dublin through the turnstiles.

Since September, the courts body has been issuing temporary cards or providing short-term extensions to cards that needed to be replaced while this new application process was being finalised.

The updated application process will launch in the new year.

Expiry dates

The Courts Service has now confirmed that all temporary security cards issued since September, along with those who have received a short-term extension, will have their expiry dates automatically extended until the new application process is introduced.

The courts body asks practitioners to note that:

  • The extension applies only to cards marked ‘Temporary Security Card’ and those members who have already contacted the Courts Service as their card was about to expire and a short extension added,
  • Once the new application forms are available, the Courts Service will notify you right away, and
  • You will then have two weeks to apply under the new application process before temporary cards are disabled.
