Why the Law Society built a Legal Tech Hub

The Law Society’s Director of Finance and Operations says that its newly launched Legal Tech Hub is a response to calls from solicitors for practical, accessible support to navigate rapid changes in technology with confidence.

A Law Society survey of solicitors earlier this year found that 88% identified cyber-security and cyber-crime as pressing challenges, while 81% felt that keeping up with technology was a significant concern.

, Cregan notes that 52% also saw new technologies as an opportunity, while 49% recognised growth potential in cyber-crime prevention.

‘Comprehensive’ resource

She describes the hub as “a comprehensive, continually updated resource designed to help you make sense of legal tech and apply it directly in your work – whether in private practice or in-house”.

It brings together a range of Law Society resources in one place – including:

  • Expert commentary on AI and its implications for the profession,
  • Templates and policies to help reduce cyber-risks, and
  • Practice notes and ethical guidance on technology from Law Society committees.

Cregan adds that the hub will be “a living resource”, with regular updates as new tools, risks, and regulations emerge.

There will also be clear signposting when content is added or updated, while anything that is no longer relevant will be removed.
