Trinity College Dublin’s School of Law has appointed Dr Richard Bunworth as Assistant Professor in Intellectual Property Law.
The university says that Dr Bunworth will lecture in intellectual-property law, industrial property, and related subjects, as well as supervising dissertations on intellectual property, technology, and competition law.
A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Oxford, and King’s College London, Dr Bunworth completed his PhD at UCD as an Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholar and Sutherland Doctoral Scholar.
Before returning to academia, Dr Bunworth practised as a solicitor in a large Irish law firm, specialising in debt finance.

His research is mainly in EU law, with a particular emphasis on competition law within the union.
In addition, he focuses on digital markets and emerging technologies and the ways in which intellectual-property law and competition law should respond to the challenges posed.
His research has been published in several leading international journals.
