Ban on selling vapes to under-18s
A new law banning the sale of nicotine-inhaling products, such as e-cigarettes, to people under 18 will come into effect on Friday (22 December).
The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said that he had commenced section 28 of the .
Under the law, it will be an offence to sell a nicotine-inhaling product to a child.

The offence carries a penalty of a fine of up to €4,000 and a term of imprisonment of up to six months.
Minister Donnelly said that the remaining measures in the legislation would come into effect in 2024.
These cover areas such as advertising, licensing, and vending machines.
The Department of Health has also launched on further measures to decrease the appeal of nicotine-inhaling products to young people.
