Congratulations to the trainees who took part in another successful season of national and international moot


Brown Mosten

Congratulations to the Law Society team of Doreen McCarthy, A&L Goodbody and Mariah Donnelly, Damien Tansey Solicitors on winning the Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition (ICCC) in Maastricht University, The Netherlands in April this year.

The team were coached by Dr Rachael Hession. The team also received training within the Lawyering Skills module from John Lunney.

The ICCC aims to provide competitors with the opportunity to develop practical legal advice skills. The Competition simulates a client consultation in which the client’s are played by actors and competitors must establish key issues and provide advice. Teams must have strong communication skills, analytical skills and the ability to think on their feet as well as adapting to the client’s presentation. The topic this year was Environmental Law.

The team would like to extend a special thank you to Conor Cawley (Ireland’s winning 2017 team); James Leahy and Aisling Ward (Ireland’s winning 2020 team); Naoise Anderson (Ireland’s winning 2021 team); Eimear Brophy; Anthony O’Shea; Jane Moffatt and Mary Upton for the practice rounds feedback and support.


Congratulations to the Law Society’s team of Sophie Quinlan, A&L Goodbody; Ruby Barlow, DLA Piper and Emma Kennedy, Arthur Cox on placing second in the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition at Stetson Law in Gulfport, Florida in April this year. The team are coached by T P Kennedy (Director of Education, Law Society).

Congratulations to Emma Kennedy on being ranked as 5th best speaker internationally.


Irish Times Debate FinalCongratulations to Ailbhe Noonan (Arthur Cox) and Gavin Dowd (A&L Goodbody) of the Solicitors’ Apprentice Debating Society in Blackhall Place on winning the Irish Times Debate final in February this year.

 


INADR participants

Congratulations to Steven Scanlan (RDJ), Ailbhe Noonan, Niamh McCarthy, Leanne Brosnan (all of Arthur Cox), Aoife Jade Bromley (Callan Tansey Solicitors) and Colin Brady (A&L Goodbody) who competed in the INADR International Mediation Competition in Bologna, Italy in March this year. The team reached the semi-finals and were awarded top Mediator and Advocate/Client position.

The team are coached by Dr Rachael Hession (Law Society) and Paula O'Halloran (Orbitus). 


Negotiation-Challenge Congratulations to the Law Society team of Anthony O'Shea (Arthur Cox), Kevin Barrett (McCann Fitzgerald) and Rachel Jones (Holmes O'Malley Sexton) on participating in the Negotiation Challenge in March this year.

The team are coached by John Lunney (Law Society) and Enya Levy (Arthur Cox).

Monroe E Price

Congratulations to the Law Society team of Aisling Marren (Arthur Cox), Gavin Dowd (A&L Goodbody), Mary Hastings, Róisín Casey, and Sean Quinn (all of William Fry) on competing in the Monroe E Price Moot Court Competition in February this year.

The team are coached by Rebecca McKittrick.

Congratulations to Gavin Dowd who placed as Best Oralist - Runner Up in the Northern European Rounds in Paris.


ECHR competition

Congratulations to the Law Society team of Philip Hayden (Arthur Cox), Gavan McLaughlin (Arthur Cox), Tasin Islam (Arthur Cox) and Hannah Kenny (BHSM) who won the GħSL European Court of Human Rights Moot Court competition in Malta in January this year.


Jessup

Congratulations to the Law Society team of Dr. Thamil Ananthavinayagan (academic advisor), Megan Fanning (Eversheds Sutherland), Aoife Garvey (William Fry), Fiona Hughes (Arthur Cox) and Bessy Zhu (A&L Goodbody) on competing in the Jessup Moot Court Competition Irish National Round 2023.

Congratulations to Bessy Zhu on winning Best Individual Speaker.
