Garda Station Legal Advice Ad Hoc Scheme – Payment For S50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 Detentions

Following representations made by the Society’s Criminal Law Committee to the Department of Justice, the committee is pleased to advise that the department has now confirmed that the scope of the Garda Station Legal Advice Ad Hoc Scheme has been extended to include detentions under s50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
A revised claim form will issue in due course.
In the interim, solicitors lodging claims should indicate on the existing claim form that the claim is in respect of a s50 CJA 2007 detention. Further information is available on the Criminal Law Committee page on the members’ area of the Society’s website.
