Complaints by solicitors about financial institutions – Central Bank contact details
The Conveyancing Committee is aware that many solicitors have had difficulty in making complaints about lending institutions and about the manner in which they deal with solicitors on various matters. Part of this difficulty has been that it is not easy to identify by whom and what section in the Central Bank are solicitors’ complaints considered.
Following recent enquiries, the committee has been advised that the Financial Regulation section of the Central Bank is the section that regulates credit institutions, but that, because many sectors are regulated, it is often difficult to pinpoint who to contact. The committee has been advised that, if its members are unsure of where to go, they can send their concerns to the team at nppfeedback@centralbank.ie.
This is the section that is dealing with the national payment plan project. They have indicated that they may not be able to deal with solicitors’ query directly, but they will be able to locate the right person or section in the Central Bank to refer solicitors to.
