Membership-only form

Many solicitors renew their membership as part of the Practising Certificate Application process. If you did not do this, or wish to continue your membership as a non-practising solicitor, you can complete the 2025 Membership form below.

Why take out membership?

As a member, you are entitled to many benefits and services, including the right to run and vote for the Council of the Law Society of Ireland.

Law Society membership is needed to nominate, run or vote in the annual Council elections. You do not need to be a practising solicitor to hold membership.

Fees

The cost of standard membership of the Law Society is €85. However, discounted fees also apply as follows:

  • Less than one year qualified and admitted in current year - €20
  • Less than three years qualified - €55
  • Unemployed and registered with Career Support - free
  • More than 50 years qualified - free.

Online payment is by credit or debit card only.

Confirmation of membership

Once you have submitted the online membership form and payment, you will see details of your membership order under My Orders.
