A Munster firm was subject to an email spoofing attempt in January 2018.

Date discovered: January 2018

Type: Email spoofing

Region: Munster

Description: The contact list in our info account was hacked and an email was sent out to all contacts from the info account advising people that in order to view a file they needed to click a link. Once clicked it sought the person's email and password. We were alerted to the issue once we began receiving calls from clients in relation to this email and by 11:46am computers, Wi-Fi and servers were shut down while IT worked on the issue and we were back up and running by 16:42pm. It would also appear that during the hack emails were not reaching us but were being siphoned to another account.
